Service Technician Trainee
JVM Realty Corporation (JVM) is a privately held real estate management and investment company based in Oak Brook, Illinois. JVM owns and manages nearly 7,000 apartment units and employs over 200 associates throughout the Midwestern United States.
JVM is currently seeking an Service Technician Trainee for one of its properties in Elkhart, Indiana.
Position Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Service Technician Trainee involve the upkeep of the property in order to enhance and maintain its curb appeal and to ensure all vacated apartements are thoroughly restored to "market ready" condition in a timely manner. The Service Technician Trainee will work with a Service Supervisor Trainer for a period of time at a location other than their property. Service Technician Trainees will not handle stand-by calls until they graduate to a Service Technician position. All those offered a position must be able to pass the company’s maintenance exam, pre-employment drug screen, and criminal history search.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checks and replaces exterior lighting on a regular basis.
- If certified for pool maintenance, cleans and maintains the pool.
- Maintains awareness of property safety precautions and initiates action to correct unsafe conditions.
- Maintains familiarity of all utility meter cut-offs, apartment and fixture cut-offs, sewer cleanouts.
- Physicially walks the property on a daily basis and removes litter, debris and pet droppings from the grounds.
- Performs "trash-out" duties at vacated apartments by removing all abandoned furniture, trash, boxes, etc.
- Routinely performs duties in order to restore apartments to "market ready" condition.
- Keeps mulch beds, grounds and parking areas, sidewalks, etc., clean of debris, loose grass and brush.
- Any and all other items as assigned by the Property Manager and/or Service Supervisor.
Requirements

Must have very strong mechanical abililties and experience performing general maintenance.

Must meet all physical requirements and be able to take direction.

Must have an eagerness and ability to learn.

Knowledge of Fair Housing and general safety.

Must know how to operate basic hand tools common to apartment maintenance: drills, miter saws, screwdrivers, torch (for soldering), etc.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with others.
