Description

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners’ Risk Management Pool is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Risk Control Specialist. This position will perform intermediate professional work conducting risk profile evaluations, planning risk control services, analyzing programs, developing analysis, and related work as apparent or assigned.

 

Successful candidate will conduct risk profile evaluations, plan and strategize risk control services with and for Pool members, analyze management programs for effectiveness and assist with improvements, develop loss trend analysis reports to determine loss patterns and frequency issues, formulate and submit effective recommendations to reduce exposures and hazards, communicate with underwriting and claims departments on membership issues, develop practical risk control service plans, develop and present supervisory safety management training and research and develop technical risk management bulletins and training materials.

Requirements

Candidate should have should have a thorough knowledge of the modern principles and techniques of prevention, including inspecting hazards and eliminating dangerous conditions: thorough knowledge of the geography of the state of North Carolina; thorough knowledge of laws and ordinances of the state and county regarding prevention; ability to recognize existing and potential hazards in a wide variety of structures and installations; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to prepare clear and concise written reports; ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and members.

 

Position requires a bachelor’s degree with coursework in safety, health or risk management, or related field and considerable experience working as a loss control consultant, occupational safety analyst or inspector, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CSP designation preferred. Successful candidate must reside east of Raleigh, NC.
