Position Information

 

The Sr. HR Generalist position is a minimally supervised position working in close collaboration with the Managing Director of Human Resources to develop HR strategies for the organization.  Provides advice, assistance and follow-up on the development and revision of the organization’s policies and procedures.  Manages employee relations issues, coordinates the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries, and provides consultative services to and advises managers and employees in the daily management of human resources issues.  Keeps abreast of HR legislation and trends and ensures best practices and compliance with local, state and federal employment laws and regulations.  Takes responsibility for recruitment. 

 

  • Manages recruitment process at all levels of the organization.  Writes/places ads; screens resumes; schedules interviews; conducts phone interviews; leads panel interviews; advises candidates and managers about recruitment and selection practices and requirements; maintains accurate records; conducts background checks.
  • Assists in the implementation of the Personal Effectiveness Process, including but not limited to providing feedback to managers about the quality of their performance reviews, advising managers about goal setting and measurements, tracking compliance to PEP, reporting and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Provides leadership and coaching support to managers regarding HR initiatives, policies, processes and practices including employee relations/engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, etc.
  •  Identifies opportunities, takes initiative and formulates and maintains metrics, develops policies and services to improve the effectiveness of current HR processes and practices and makes recommendations to supervisor.
  •  Provides guidance to employees within scope of position; assists in the investigation and resolution of employee relations issues; acts as a liaison to managers and advises them on how to reach proper resolution.
  • Supports and brings value to HR Team by leading or participating in projects, including the planning and execution of organization-wide social events, health fair, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.  Reviews and keeps informed about recent and changing employment related laws, guidelines and trends and recommends changes in policy/procedures or new initiatives that support the General Board’s business practices.
  • Conducts new employee orientation and ensures that new hires understand plan provisions to make informed decisions.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, especially search firms and employment agencies.
  • Conducts exit interviews to identify issues, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Requirements

The qualified applicant will possess:

 

 

  • Bachelors' degree in human resources management or business preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in human resources.
  • Strong HR generalist knowledge with exposure to all areas of HR function, in particular performance management, competency development, and staffing plans.
  • Proven ability to organize and direct a project to completion.
  • Proven ability to discern issues, develop solutions and implement appropriate plans.
  • Proven ability to understand and quickly execute business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
  • Flexible, straightforward; able to think “outside the box".
  • At least intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.  Knowledge of ADP HR Perspectives would be a plus.
  • Detail oriented and logical, possessing methodological approach to problem solving and decision making and ability to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping timelines and tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills and professional maturity.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments, employees, vendors, etc.
  • Confident communicator, able to present effectively to all levels of the organization.
