Job Description
Under the general direction of the Plant Manager contributes to the achievement of Berry Plastics’ objectives by providing customers with high-quality service/delivery.  Directs the Customer Service and Planning Departments in coordinating customer requirements with all appropriate departments.

 

  • Communicate daily with customers, sales representatives and appropriate departments regarding order status.
  • Set goals to achieve improved customer service and develop metrics to measure improvements.  Also develop metrics to measure customer service and planning work load, and performance.
  • Develop system improvements to improve customer service and manage data and work flow.
  • Interface with Sales to minimize past due orders and reduce/eliminate the gap between Order Request Date and Order Promise Date.
  • Assure current and accurate order status by coordinating customer approval of order components (i.e. ink color proofs, resin color chips, special packing, samples,color matches), maintain expediting system and manage planning department.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Customer Service Team ensuring that they work together with the sales personnel to achieve the objectives of the department and the company.
  • Responsible for accurate, timely order entry and order acknowledgement system.
  • Coordinate successful resolution of customer credit and payment problems with Berry Plastics Accounting Department and customers.
  • Negotiates adjustments and/or issuing credits as necessary.
  • Manage the department budget, track service levels and work with the Berry Team to make improvements.
  • Oversee customer accounts.
  • Review and address inventory levels with customer.
  • Ensure Customer Service ISO procedures are being followed.
  • Coordinate the maintenance excess/obsolete inventory levels for wip and finished goods with Materials.
  • Manages the Planning Department and supervises schedulers according to company policies and procedures.
  • Works with sales, schedulers, and purchasing to pro actively manage bottleneck operations.
  • Interface with Product Line Managers and Sales to support commercializing new business, including launch planning, ramp-ups, product phase-in/out, and end of life management.
  • Represent Berry Plastics in a professional manner in all communication with the customer.
  • Coordinate disposition of nonconforming materials, customer supplied and manufactured, with Production and/or customer.
  • Coach, develop and discipline employees as necessary while maintaining a positive work environment.
 
Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; with five to seven years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing focused industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

Extensive customer service background.

Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem solving and systems capabilities.
