 To provide excellent, thorough evaluation and on going treatment for individuals with the full spectrum of disorders of sleep and wakefulness.  To provide the community the full spectrum of disorders of sleep and wakefulness.  To provide the community a favorable impact on healthcare in Jackson and the 5 surrounding counties.  To conduct clinical research in sleep and sleep disorders.

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates ability to set-up and maintain various non-invasive ventilation support devices, such as CPAP/BPAP, and pressure support ventilators.
  • Demonstrates essential critical thinking skills by looking at the big picture, sharing a willingness to reconsider decisions, ability to respectfully challenge the decision-making of others, ability to reach a resolution when decisions are in dispute in the best interest of the patient.  Maintains appreciation for multiple perspectives. 
  • Demonstrates logical reasoning, problem-solving, and reflection skills.

  • Understands process flow, able to assist and instruct others; demonstrates ability to administer appropriate therapies according to physician orders and department standards and protocols.
  • Ensures accurate collection of sleep data and appropriate therapeutic interventions for all pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  •  Ensures sleep staging is accurate, respiratory events and leg movement events are scored appropriately, arousals recognized and scored appropriately; manually calculated data is accurate and database information is entered correctly.

     

 


job Requirements

  • Certification from Sleep Technologist training program or prior experience working in a sleep laboratory preferred. AND/OR
  • Registration with the NBRC (or registry-eligible); completion of AMA-approved.  Respiratory Therapist program preferred AND/OR
  • Registration with the BRPT; or certification from Sleep Technologist training program – registry eligible preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable to change, ability to prioritize and respond quickly and appropriately to critical patient needs.
  • Able to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • BCLS by American Heart Association required.
  • At least 2 years experience in an accredited Sleep Center desirable.
