Position Summary
Admissions / Intake Specialist are tasked to enter accurate new patient admission information into computer system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collect and process patient and billing information as it arrives
  • Verify accuracy of billing information received by coordinating with nursing home facility, doctors, and hospital before medications are sent if possible or within 24 hours if not possible
  • Enter new patient admission information into computer system in a timely fashion
  • Enter status changes, new facility set-ups and return addressed into computer system
  • Verify and set up accounts regarding Medicaid and Medicaid-pending insurance and call all private pay
  • Throughout the month monitor census and data and status changes
  • Use Medifax to verify and acquire billing numbers for Medicaid
  • Send out all HIPAA compliance forms, documents dare dent, receive completed forms and document receipt and files
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary by location

Job Requirements 

Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior education in medical billing and/or medical terminology preferred
  • Experience in data entry or billing preferred; experience in pharmacy procedures and terminology preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language; effective communication skills and interpersonal skills, excellent customer service skills
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work load with minimal supervision
  • Previous billing or pharmacy technician experience preferred

 

  • Must be able to work days, evenings and rotating weekends
