Description
Infection Control Practitioner
This position is located in an easy living family based community with a nice climate and a very affordable Cost of Living.
Individual will be responsible for the Infection Control Department which includes but is not limited to:

Overseeing all Infection Control issues
-
Ensuring compliance with state, federal and JCAHO standards and how they relate to infection control

Planning, development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the hospital wide IP&C program
The Infection Control Practitioner works together with and acts as a consultant for the department managers and staff.
This individual will advise, implement, and evaluate measures necessary to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital and community. This individual will also be responsible to oversee employee health issues that relate to infection control. Within the scope of responsibility is a large Quality (Auditing) and Education Component.
Individual will head-up Infection Control Committee consisting of Nursing Directors, Medical Directors, and various other key hospital staff members. Position reports to the Director of Quality Management.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse - BSN (highly preferred—but not mandatory)
- Good Nursing Background – five years as a clinical nurse
- Infection Control Experience
- Certification in Infection Control preferred
- Complete basic Infection Control Course within first year of entering position
- Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration, and epidemiology
