Dimension & Scope:
Serves in a Business Intelligence (BI) capacity in order to supply operational reporting needs.

Individuals in this position will be responsible for designing and developing end to end reporting systems across the enterprise.  This includes database and ETL development, report development along with portal installation, configuration and customization. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the technical design and development of multiple Business Intelligence related deliverables.

  • Writes advanced SQL queries to extract data from source systems for reporting purposes. 

  • Designs and implements back-end data structures using the SQL Server 2008 RDBMS.

  • Responsible for writing ETL packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

  • Assists in establishing development best practices and team standards. 

  • Responsible for designing and developing reports using various platforms including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Dundas and Microsoft Excel. 

  • Designs and implements and configures various reporting delivery mechanisms including Microsoft SharePoint.  

  • Communicates with Quality Assurance and Project Managers in resolving defects found in testing processes.  

  • Assists in the mentoring and career development of less experienced Analysts on the Development Team.

  • Works with internal or external subject matter experts to understand business problems and pinpoint technical issues.

  • Potentially leads and coordinates work of other analysts. 

  • Assists the project team in conducting troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis.   

  • Responsible for contributing new ideas and solutions for continuous improvement.

  • Records and documents design decisions and technical limitations to facilitate future maintenance efforts. 

 


job Requirements

Education Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in related technical discipline and three years relevant experience or a Master’s Degree in related technical discipline.

 

Candidate Profile:

  •  Must have professional experience in developing database systems, ETL packages and reports. 

  • Must have deep understanding of SQL and database management systems.

  • Possesses excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Must have well developed problem solving skills and a refined attention to detail.

  • Preferred professional experience in working with portal /content management software. 

  • Ability to develop technical design specifications using high level business requirements.  

  • Strong analytical background with advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work independently while adhering to standards and best practices in a structured development environment.

  • Ability to mentor less experienced developers.

  • Strong written/verbal skills directed at the appropriate audience.

  • Understands, demonstrates and implements ETL best practices and design techniques.

  • Ability to own “end to end" technical deliverables and has the ability to accurately estimate timelines along with project risks and dependencies.  

  • Demonstrates advanced problem solving capabilities.

  • The ability to contribute new ideas and solutions that will result in continuous improvement.

  • Possess a deep knowledge of all areas within the information value chain.  

  • Preferred development experience using the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Suite (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).  

  • Preferred development experience using Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Preferred experience utilizing Microsoft Excel as a report delivery medium.
