     Job Description

 

 

The main purpose of this position is to ensure the effective management and logistical planning of assigned territories while working closely with the Customer and Manager. Administer the assigning of trucks to loads. This includes the prioritization of loads based on customer requirements and commitments, Fleet Manager requests, trailer utilization, and driver home requests by using Load Optimization software and practical knowledge of the transportation industry.
Communicate directly with the customer on a daily basis regarding the planning of freight for current and future days of the week. Manage driver requests for Production, Home Time, and other related needs. Review the geographical area for inbound, outbound, committed, and empty truck status, as well as for trailer pools, and problems. Notify Fleet Managers of any late load information or problems. Maintain communication with internal customers, i.e. Fleet Managers and Dedicated Manager through 2nd Availables and other related departments. Monitor and ensure on time pick-ups.

     Job Requirements

Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Excellent decision making skills in logistical planning.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong communication skills.
Strong typing skills of 35-45wpm.
Knowledge of U.S. geography.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience.
Two to three years customer service experience preferred.
Two to three years transportation experience preferred.
One to two years AS400 or P.C. experience preferred.
