Production Manager


 

 

DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is seeking a Production Manager to work within the operations department out of Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will report to the Salt Lake City, UT Plant Manager.

 

DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is a division of DYWIDAG-Systems International headquartered in Munich, Germany. DSI produces and supplies high quality products for mining and construction applications around the world.

 

Primary responsibilities include managing production employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment, including planning and assigning work volume, implementing policies and procedures, while ensuring a safe and quality oriented work environment for all employees.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work assignments of production personnel to meet order demand. Controlling production and measuring output against plan.

 

  • Provide and oversee quality inspection activity of product throughout production process. Assure maximum productivity, quality and accuracy of shipments to meet customers' requirements and DSI's specifications.

  • Implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

  • Analyze and measure manufacturing process flow and transportation.

  • The candidate will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the production staff and will be responsible for safety, interviewing, hiring and training of production employees.

  • The candidate is expected to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Must be committed to continuous improvement in the following areas: production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality and performance management.

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment are needed.
  • Solid knowledge of assembly practices, machinery (i.e. presses and hydraulics) and welding.
  • Thorough knowledge 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • The candidate must have the ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process.
  • Perform quality (ISO 9001) orientation and show high attention to detail, perform problem analysis and problem resolution, exude excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, safety conscious, and computer proficient.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • There will be occasional exposure to elements such as odor noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. 
  • Safety glasses with side shields, gloves and safety shoes are required in all production areas.
