HISTORY
On September 5, 1935, the Farm Credit Administration issued charter No. 566 for a federal credit union at the Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, California. The Douglas Aircraft Company Federal Credit Union began a 67-year tradition of growth and prosperity. In 1975, the credit union became McDonnell Douglas West Federal Credit Union to better represent the evolvement and growth of the primary sponsor and the membership.

Throughout its history, McDonnell Douglas West Federal Credit Union exhibited integrity and adaptability - always striving to achieve excellence. As the credit union grew, so have the needs of the membership. To sustain this growth, continuous change and improvement were needed and the credit union continued to develop new products and services to provide the membership with a greater variety of financial resources. It also became necessary to evolve to the next step with a name change

On February 25, 2002, McDonnell Douglas West Federal Credit Union became NuVision Federal Credit Union. As we began to serve a more diversified group of members, we chose a name to represent the progressive financial institution that we are and will continue to be in the future. But we will never forget our roots and to commemorate the heritage of our existing members, we incorporated elements that are reminiscent of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company into the NuVision Federal logo.

NuVision Federal extends a promise to our members that we will maintain the financial stability and a comprehensive line of quality products, services and delivery systems to meet our members' needs for many years to come.

What does it mean to be a Credit Union Member?

As a member-owner of NuVision Federal Credit Union, you are part of a not-for-profit financial institution that is governed by its membership. Earnings are returned to member-owners in the form of lower rates on loans, higher returns on savings, and outstanding financial service.

The Credit Union's unpaid, volunteer Board of Directors is elected by and from the membership and acts in the benefit and best interest of the Credit Union and its member-owners.

NuVision Federal Rides the Wave as Surf City USA®'s
Credit UnionHuntington Beach, Calif. - NuVision Federal Credit Union has been exclusively named "The Official Credit Union of Surf City USA®," a.k.a., Huntington Beach.

With eight and half miles of pristine California beaches, Huntington Beach is fast becoming a destination of choice for vacationers and business travelers alike. As home to the USA Surf Team and hosting over 35 surfing competitions every year, the Southern California beach town is known as the surf capital of the world and the moniker couldn't be more appropriate.

Since branding itself with the Surf City USA® name in November of 2004, overnight travel to Huntington Beach has increased dramatically. "Our community takes considerable pride in the Surf City USA® moniker and all that it has come to represent about our lifestyle and the people who live here," said Doug Traub, President, Huntington Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau. "We now have six licensing partners in our family with products spanning the globe." NuVision Federal officially adopted the trademark on July 15, 2006.

NuVision Federal CU has been an icon in Huntington Beach for over 70 years, first serving employees of Douglas Aircraft, which became McDonnell Douglas and then Boeing, for many years before opening its membership to the community in 2004. This has enabled NuVision Federal to extend its services to those who live or work in Huntington Beach and the surrounding Beach Cities.

NuVision Federal decided to pursue becoming Surf City USA®'s official credit union to convey the message that, in addition to serving their core sponsor, they are available to serve the Huntington Beach community, as well as the surrounding beach communities, with the best in financial products and services. Roger Ballard, the Credit Union's CEO, is enthusiastic about the new official title and the opportunities it presents. "We are thrilled to have this door opened for us," he said. "As the official credit union for Surf City USA®, NuVision Federal will become much more involved with the city of Huntington Beach and the surrounding communities. In addition, our marketing is going to take on a new and fun approach."

Merchandising will play a large role for both the city and the credit union. Huntington Beach has partnered up with Global Icons, Felt Bicycles, Summit West and Giant Merchandising to create and distribute official Surf City USA merchandise. Though NuVision Federal CU's marketing plan is still being finalized, the credit union will roll Surf City USA® branding in grand fashion, using official Surf City USA® gear as giveaways, during the campaign to promote its new designation.
