The Information Assurance (IA) Engineer plays a critical role in the objective to provide capability assurance at the client level. The IA Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and improving the security documentation and associates Federal Information Security Act (FISMA) processes for all federal government and Department of Defense (DoD) clients. The IA Engineer functions as a Technical Lead on a single, large project or multiple, smaller projects.

The job will include the following responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and draft Certification & Accredidation (C&A) documentation
  • Manage C&A related project tasks
  • Track and monitor production system changes and ensure updates to applicable IA related documentation for systems are made
  • Lead and manage information security procedures and guidelines development
  • Track Corrective Action Plan (CAP)
  • Use DOORs to capture, define, and document security requirements
  • Provide guidance to team members regarding security issues surrounding UNIX, Windows, TCP/IP, email, enterprise concerns, and classified & unclassified ratings
Requirements

 

  • 10+ years of related experience; preferably focusing on IT security and Information Assurance for federal government or military systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required, Master’s degree is desirable
  • Expertise with Federal information security requirements, standards, and guidelines such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Security and other technology certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are desired
  • Professional etiquette and ability to interact with technicians, professionals, and executives in both industry and government
  • Exceptional oral, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills
  • Punctuality, consistency, and ability to meet deliverable deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, quality, and professionalism
  • Self-starter and problem solver with strong ability to work independently in areas of core competence with minimal guidance
  • Ability to work well in team environments of varying composition, personalities, roles, and responsibilities Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to master similar productivity tools
  • Creative ability to think and communicate thoughts both in terms of structured narrative and visual imagery (graphics)
  • Active awareness of industry trends and technologies in relevant areas of subject-matter interests (Homeland Security, Congressional Agenda, etc.)
  • Willingness to share information, train and be trained, mentor and be mentored with executives, peers, and subordinates
