Description
The Systems Engineering, as part of Business Technology staff, supports the Group's business lines’ objectives through researching, evaluating, designing and implementing various technical solutions for Group’s mission-critical systems.
Systems Engineering staff has an opening for an experienced Solutions Engineer to be part of various project teams comprising Markets Data Strategy initiative. The objective of the Data Strategy program is the delivery of a series of specific technical capabilities, as well as associated operational support functions which would enable improved data access, data quality, and data analysis tools for the analytical user community within the Group.
In addition to strong technical skills, the successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong solution engineering skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a mission critical environment, the ability to work independently and the willingness to accept new technical and project challenges.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as technical subject matter expert to the Group's projects teams
- Participate in creation of RFI/RFP requirements for the technical aspects of the projects/solutions
- Participate in review and analysis of vendor responses to RFIs/RFPs
- Assist in evaluating technical architecture of the proposed solutions and translate/adopt them to fit into Markets system environment
- Design and implement system infrastructure components as well as non-functional system solutions and processes
- Interact with Bank Information Security and Audit teams to ensure that proposed system solutions adhere to FRS policies and standards
Requirements
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or at least 10+ years experience of system engineering and administration in mission critical environments
- Proven experience of creating effective system solutions, including research, proof-of-concept and advocating proposed solutions to the project teams and management
- Excellent analytical as well as written and verbal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 and Linux operating systems, high-availability/clustering technologies and disaster-recovery methodologies
- Demonstrated understanding of system security best practices
- Solid experience in Unix shell scripting
- Experience in system tuning and performance testing
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables without supervision
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of various SAN/NAS technologies
- Working knowledge of advanced backup/recovery technologies for VLDBs
- Hands-on experience with clustering solutions in support of Oracle RAC and ASM
