The Devereux Foundation is the largest nonprofit provider of behavioral healthcare in the country for individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges and mental illness.  Devereux has 15 centers operating in 11 states across the nation.

Devereux’s Kanner Center currently has openings for Direct Support Professional - (Direct Care) positions located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. 

Devereux’s Kanner center provides residential services, two day schools, family based treatment programs, diagnostic services and childhood Autism Research & Education Services (CARES).  Kanner's day-education program is specifically targeted for children who have been diagnosed with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder.  These services and programs bring hope to the surrounding communities throughout Chester County. 

As a Direct Support Professional - (Direct Care) you would be responsible for providing quality care and motivation to clients along with maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. The Direct Support Professional - (Direct Care) reports to the Program Coordinator.  This position has both part-time and fulltime openings for the 7-3, 3-11, and 11-7 shifts. 

The duties include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring clients are safe, healthy and living in a clean environment
• Accompaning individuals on community life outings, medical appointments and other activities
• Assisting, supporting and instructing individuals in self-help skills designed to encourage independence
• Establing and maintaining a therapeutic rapport with individuals
• Implementing programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of clients.

In order to be considered for the Direct Support Professional - (Direct Care) position we require that you have a minimum completed education level of High school diploma or GED.  Experience working with individuals with autism preferred, but not required.  You must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and have reliable transportation.
