Position Summary:
Participate in the design and development of various applications to support the Business Intelligence department. This will involve assisting in the creation of analytical and reporting solutions for the enterprise.
The Business Intelligence department supports Business Objects query, reporting and analysis tools, Crystal Reports and other products within the Business Objects enterprise portfolio.
The Developer will be responsible for leading the design, development, testing, debugging, maintaining and documenting software components in accordance to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices. We are looking for the individual to assist with the creation and support of delivering solutions to all business areas within Kroger. The Lead Developer has overall responsibility in the technical design process. The Lead Developer will participate in the application technical design process and complete estimates and work plans for design, development, implementation, and rollout tasks. The Lead Developer also communicates with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are delivered with the highest of quality standards. The Lead Developer will strive to continuously improve the software delivery processes and practices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate in the design and implementation of large and/or architecturally significant applications.
- Support company standards and best practices and work continuously to improve software delivery processes and practices.
- Design, create and maintain Business Objects universes, reports and other specific deliverables.
- Provide Business Objects support to the user community to include participation in business hour support rotation, diagnosing and resolving issues, and occasional after hour support rotation.
- Provide additional support of Business Objects security administration and new user access.
- Ensure deliverables are complete and approved prior to migration into production.
- Complete estimates and work plans independently as appropriate for design, development, implementation and rollout tasks.
- Create technical system documentation and ensure that this documentation remains current throughout all phases of the SDLC.
- Build partnerships across the application, business and infrastructure teams.
- Develop programming specifications. Design, code and unit test application code using Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices.
- Communicate with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are managed appropriately and that completed assignments are of the highest quality.
- Support and maintain applications utilizing required tools and technologies. Provide support for applications, including involvement with the Support Center, NOC, Infrastructure teams, and vendors as appropriate. Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required.
- Assist other personnel on assignments including mentoring or providing on-the-job training to more junior associates. Mentor team members in software development principles, patterns, processes and practices.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an Information Systems position.
- Prior experience with Business Objects, Crystal or other Business Intelligence reporting tools.
- Experience in developing and deploying Business Objects Universes.
- Prior experience with creating interactive analytics, dashboards or scorecards.
- Prior experience with online analytical processing or predictive analysis a plus.
- Experience in systems analysis, design or programming and the associated development methodologies.
- Understanding of database related concepts such as star schemas, inner/outer joins and an overall familiarity with Structured Query Language.
- Working knowledge of cube creation and design a plus.
- Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to various levels within the organization.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities to support customer service interaction.
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Ability to interact well in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Project Methodologies.
- Experience with Project planning a plus.
- Passing score on a selected entry test for new hires.
Desired Previous Job Experience
- Previous experience in Business Objects Architecture, Server Administration, Security Design and implementation of new releases.
- 3 or more years experience in systems analysis, design or programming and the associated development methodologies with large size or highly complex projects.
- Prior experience with Enterprise Business Intelligence platforms with large or highly complex projects
