Description

As a result of our continued growth, our Northeast Philadelphia distribution company has an exciting opportunity for an energetic Operations Manager.  Under the leadership of the Director of Operations, your primary responsibilities in this high-visibility position will be overseeing operational activities within the company and ensuring that the operational departments conform to procedures and systems in accordance with customer and company requirements.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Directly manages the operational labor force of non-exempt employees during the 1st shift, including scheduling and management of  departmental staffing needs daily, making necessary changes to best support operational and workflow needs
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws
  • Maintains the company’s operating procedures and initiates improvements where needed
  • Primary contact person on all matters relating to activities occurring on the warehouse floor throughout the 1st shift
  • Coordinate receiving and schedule inbound freight
  • Assist the Director of Operations in the implementation of all new procedures and policies
  • Supervise and direct shift members daily on the re-stocking of all departments to be completed within specified time frame
  • Assist & communicate with the 2nd shift operations manager on a daily basis, including status updates related to inventory, re-stocking, order picking etc.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of operations and distribution, including equipment, processes, and distribution systems; comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook including e-mail, calendar & task functions, and:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-5 years experience in distribution function within the wholesale industry, including experience in a unionized facility
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to write reports and business correspondence 
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with employees, managers, customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and to juggle multiple priorities
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
