Riverside County has a progressive approach to health care staffing, the Medical Assignment Program (MAP), operated by the County's Human Resources Department. MAP is a medically focused staffing operation that places medical professionals in a variety of assignments that are temporary or per diem. MAP workers are employed by the Human Resources Department and sent on assignments to various County departments, including the Riverside County Regional Medical Center, Mental Health Department, and Public Health Clinics.
Current placements are available for REGISTERED NURSE-IN HOUSE REGISTRY with the Medical Assignment Program.
SALARY: $34.20 Hourly
This is a Temporary, Non Benefited position.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital or a health care agency, preferably in an acute care setting.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Assesses, plans, organizes, and provides nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; makes preliminary observations of and prepares patients for medical treatment.
• Assists physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests and surgical operations.
• As directed, administers prescribed treatment and medications to patients; charts treatment of patients and records and reports significant changes in condition and general progress of patient.
• Counsels and advises patients, families, and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper health care methods; prepares and maintains concise and complete records and reports.
• Instructs patients in carrying out physicians orders; may transcribe physicians orders to working records.
• May provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, ROP and nursing students.
• May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a tem leader or relief charge nurse.
CLASS CONCEPT:
Under supervision, to perform professional nursing duties in a per diem employment capacity in the care of patients in either a designated acute care or a non-acute care assignment in a County department; to assist physicians and carry out their orders; and to do other work as required.
Per Diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an as needed basis.
Incumbents in this full journey level class are expected to work with a minimum of supervision in acute care assignments.
REQUIREMENTS:
In Addition to one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital or health care agency, knowledge of the following is required: Current principles, techniques, and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and hospital and clinic routine, medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines, psychotropics, and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing.
Ability to: Perform the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities; plan and organize nursing plans for patients; prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, and fellow employees; assist in the instruction of entry level nurses and ancillary personnel.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
License: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required for some positions.

All assignment offers are contingent upon successful completion of both a pre-employment physical exam, including a drug/alcohol test, and a criminal background investigation, which involves fingerprinting. (A felony or misdemeanor conviction may disqualify the applicant from County employment).
