Purpose of the Position:
The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for
- planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling human resource operations
- managing a variety of diverse and related employee-related programs and projects with the overall goal of ensuring the Company is attracting, retaining, motivating and empowering its employees at the most effective and successful levels
- developing a culture of academic and administrative excellence that contributes to an internal and external reputation as an employer of choice.

- ensure UMA compliance with applicable federal and state employment employment laws and with education-specific employment regulations
Requirements
Specific Responsibilities/Typical Activities
Included, but are not limited to:
- provide consultation and mediation regarding work-related issues, conflicts and discipline, policy/procedure questions, to managers and employees
- develop, communicate, and administer all policies and practices pertaining to employment with the organization to ensure consistency and equitable treatment of all members of staff
- assure compliance with local, state, and federal laws
- develop progressive and competitive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance and promote the short and long-range health and welfare of employees
- deliver performance management and organizational development that identify and address competency and talent gaps across the organization
- gather evidence and prepare responses for various claims. Investigate and respond to claims, review all pertinent files, prepare briefs, and participate in other activities related to the resolution process
- manage payroll and benefits
- manager personnel records; ensure records are continuously 100% in compliance with all applicable federal, stae local and –industry specific requirements including thos of accreditors and state licensing agencies
- evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve human resources data management.
- evaluate and recommend human resource outsourcing opportunities and identify potential vendors.
- work with the recruiting function to identify and attract a diversity of talent and ensure seamless onboarding of new hires
- lead the implementation of general and company wide training programs that promote a culture of compliance and an effective workplace
Skills & Core Attributes
Required:
· Experience
o Generalist background with broad knowledge and deomstrated experience in employee relations, compensation, organizational planning, and training and development. Well-developed administrative skills. Strong management skills—principles and people.
o Eight (8) to ten (10) years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources.
o A minimum of three (3) years' recent experience as the top Human Resources executive of a medium sized company or possible one of the top few HR executives in a large company in a fast paced, entrepreneurial service environment.
· Education
o Bachelor's degree or higher. Specialized training in organizational planning, compensation, and preventive labor relations.
