Description

The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of revenue, inventory, product margin, gross margin and manufacturing variances. Review all inventory transactions for accuracy; manage the quarterly standard cost roll; review all manufacturing variances and exposures related to the contract manufacturer.  Overall responsibility for preparing the inventory reserve analysis. Provide assistance with the forecasting of manufacturing variances for the quarterly forecasts and annual plan.

Essential Functions of Position:

 

  • Reconciliation of all perpetual inventory to the general ledger.
  • Maintain standard cost system and analyze and report all variances to standard cost.
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly revenue and product margin reporting to management by product line and customer. Preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly reporting of manufacturing variances.
  • Work on special projects as assigned to fulfill information requirements of senior management.
  • Review excess and obsolete inventory reserves for potential exposure
  • Perform quarterly overhead, warranty reserve and product royalty analysis
  • Perform quarterly sales allowance analysis
  • Perform revenue recognition analysis on FOB destination orders, hub pull activity and software
  • Research of all purchase, sale and service inventory transactions for accuracy
  • Reconciliation of intercompany inventory transfers and AP/AR
  • Reconciliation of customer marketing development funds liabilities
  • Accrual of any manufacturing and/or other COGS expenses
  • Processes month-end journal entries and other closing reports and activities. Review of all account reconciliations.
  •  Manage the quarterly/annual physical count of hub location and off-site inventory.
  • Heavily involved in the establishment of policies and procedures related to inventory, cost of goods sold and cost accounting procedures.

 

 

Requirements

Qualifications:  (Education, Skills, Abilities, Experience):

  • Solid experience of standard cost and inventory management systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley principals (SOX)
  • Experience with Oracle 11i ERP system or similar ERP system a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast growing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skill with – Noetix, Excel, Word, etc.

Requirements:

BA in Accounting

CMA and/or MBA preferred

7+ years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility

3+ years of management experience, preferably in a contract manufacturing environment.
