Job Description

Accountabilities:

 

  • Supports the Risk Management Department
  • Analyzes and processes workers’ compensation claims by gathering information and reviewing exposures and case file with insurance adjusters, brokers, legal representatives and internal Risk Management.
  • Monitors reserves and settlement requests from adjusters through critical thinking and prepares an internal claim overview for approval with Senior Management. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the individual state jurisdiction as it relates to that claim.
  • Completes wage requests timely and forwards them to the insurance carrier as necessary.
  • Monitors and tracks open claims with timely follow up to ensure accurate reserving timely and effective action plans to get the claim closed.
  • Responds timely and professionally to all e-mail, fax and written correspondence from internal associates, vendors, insurance adjusters and attorneys.
  • Responds to correspondence from Insurance Carrier when associates are not returned to work and contact Operations to discuss possible options of RTW. 
  • Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly vendor invoices for payments.
  • Prepares and distributes Period Claim and Lag report for Operations.
  • Coordinates and communicates with Safety manager, HR department and payroll to identify preventative safety initiatives, return to work policies and payroll documentation.

 

On-going administrative assignments and special projects

  • Run reports out of claims data base to support analytics for financial analysis
  • Introducing changes to Operations through various ways of communications
  • Working with the Safety and Ops Tools teams on special projects
  • Identify and help improve processes relating to claims management
  • Identifying Managed Care Networks
 
Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university preferred
  • Three to five years of job related prior experience in Workers’ Compensation and/or General Liability required.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Social Security disability, OSHA and multi state Workers’ Compensation Acts.
  • Ability to remain organized, multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high quality work.
  • Skilled in delivering solid customer service and demonstrating a team player perspective.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal, written and listening skills
  • Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, research and investigation.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound valid judgments
  • Ability to interact with others at all levels within the company and demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office applications, especially Excel.
