Description
My multi-billion dollar, International client is looking to fill a position on its tax team. Areas of responsibility will include oversight and preparation of U.S. International tax compliance, managing U.S. International compliance staff, oversight of Canadian tax compliance (externally prepared), income tax accounting related to U.S. International and Canadian SEC tax provisions, and project oriented tasks, research and planning.
The position will be 50% compliance – 25% tax accounting – 25% tax planning
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Prepare and review the preparation of Forms 5471, 5713, 8858, 1118, U.S. outbound disclosures and elections, and the calculations related to other required International filings.
- Review and manage the relevant work of other International tax professionals (peers).
- Coordinate Domestic tax to insure all International tax information is properly and timely reported on the consolidated U.S. income tax return.
- Maintain and supervise the maintenance of the company’s U.S. International tax attributes including:
- Managing the collection of data from foreign affiliates and monitor related International deadlines
- Maintaining U.S. foreign tax credit models
- Review and maintain earnings and profits and tax basis calculations
- Prepare and maintain APB 23 schedules
- Review and maintain global tax attributes
- Review supporting schedules such as allocation and apportion of interest and R&D expenses used in calculating the company’s foreign tax credit
- Prepare and review U.S. International tax portions of SEC tax provision
- Take responsibility for and ownership of International tax compliance function from data gathering to completion of tax return
- Directly manage and mentor the company’s U.S. International Tax Accountant
- Proactively seek solutions to tax attribute management that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax data collection and reporting
- Coordinate Canadian tax compliance
- Assist divisional tax liaisons on global transfer pricing policies and procedures including the preparation of the contemporaneous documentation required to be maintained under U.S. and foreign tax rules
- Research International tax issues at a moderate to difficult level of complexity
- Assist with the International portion of the IRS’ audit of the company’s U.S. tax return
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of three years of corporate income tax experience or auditing/tax consulting firm experience.
- A minimum of two years International outbound compliance experience.
- CPA
- Must have solid understanding of GAAP and accounting concepts and be proficient in the use of tax compliance software and accounting systems.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Minimum three years of tax experience.
- Minimum of two years International tax experience (outboard compliance).
