Description
Value Pawn & Jewelry (Value) is part of one of the nation’s largest publicly-owned pawn chains. Value operates stores throughout the Southeastern United States and generated more than $110 million in revenue last year. The company loans money on anything of value, and sells jewelry, tools and electronics along with a wide range of other merchandise. Our attention to exceptional customer service, timely merchandising and a family-friendly atmosphere constitutes our formula for success. As a testament to our employee-centric atmosphere and customer service, Value has consistently been honored in The Orlando Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work" and in Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing companies.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SALES & LENDING ASSOCIATE
Sales and Lending Associates (SLA) at Value spend part of every day completing tasks that are divided into three general categories: Selling, Loaning & General Store Duties.
SLA's spend much of their day selling merchandise that includes jewelry, tools, home and auto electronics, cameras, video equipment, musical instruments and other general merchandise items. This diversity of merchandise allows the SLA to sell a diamond ring to one customer and turn around and sell a chain saw to another. Selling at a Value Pawn Shop is never dull and there is always an opportunity to learn more about the products we sell.
A portion of every day is spent writing loans for our customers at the store loan counter. Our SLA's gain information from our loan customers and briefly discuss that information with the Store Manager. A decision is made and approved by the Store Manger to loan a specific amount on the items presented by the customer to collateralize a loan. The loan information is entered into the computer in accordance with state regulations, and the customer receives cash from the loan. SLA's also assist customers who return after making loans to pay their loan and redeem their merchandise.
The remainder of every day is spent with normal everyday tasks that are necessary to keep our stores looking good and operating better than the competition. Dusting, sweeping, merchandising and cleaning are very important activities that make up a typical day for our SLA's. Finally, there is a significant amount of cash handling involved in nearly every transaction in a Value store, thereby requiring accuracy at all times.
