Job Functions:
Fill prescriptions and counsel customers on pharmaceuticals and drug questions.
Monitor all state, local and federal laws that pertain to pharmacy and assure compliance.
Monitor all competitors in trade area on all key points, i.e., services, price, hours, caliber of pharmacists, etc.
Monitor demographics of area and customer needs, i.e., retirement complexes, senior citizen homes, nursing homes, hospitals, apartment complexes, young couples, schools, etc.
Monitor and recommend promotional activity necessary to achieve sales and gross budgets.
Represent Pharmacy department in store board meetings and department head meetings.
Maintain best source of supply on merchandise per KMA recommendations and manage inventory level to achieve proper service and inventory budgets.
Establish and update store’s competitive price list and pricing microfiche with assistance of Pharmacy Coordinator and Drug/General Merchandise Merchandiser.
Establish and maintain all record keeping necessary for legal compliance, Kroger policy, Accounting policy and other reports requested.
Establish and maintain the three most meaningful competitors in pharmacy and their prescriptions filled per week.
Solicit and promote third party prescriptions and nursing homes.
Enforce company dress code to project professional image and build customer confidence.
Create Pharmacy image of service, friendliness and cooperativeness with customers, Kroger employees and outside vendors.
Maintain clean, neat work are, including work counter, shelves, floor, etc., and customer counter to present a professional, sanitary, organized image to customers.
Control expenses through proper ordering procedures per KMA recommendations.
Make recommendations to Drug/General Merchandise Merchandiser on customer requests for nonprescription merchandise not stocked elsewhere in the store.
Maintain proper records, inventory and security on all scheduled drugs (controlled substances-narcotics).
Receive and cost code all merchandise per company guidelines.
Price third party prescriptions in compliance with all applicable contracts and legal requirements and monitor staff knowledge of these requirements.
Insure all “out-of-state” products are returned for credit.
Maintain all equipment in working condition, i.e., nursing home equipment, packaging, typewriter, computer, and cash register.
Maintain current and organized all policy manuals, reference books, state laws and required equipment and verify all staff knowledgeable of use.
Inform head pharmacist and store manager on all market trends.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and skill on pharmacy and the Kroger Company.
