Position Summary:

Primary resource for supporting Business Units in their Business Transformation through the implementation of the Stanley Fulfillment System (SFS), as well as developing and implementing continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.  Delivers practical, hands-on training and mentoring to associates in SFS / Lean methodology and tools to eliminate waste in all administrative, manufacturing and support functions.  Supports / Leads complexity management and VA/VE kaizens. 

  

Scope / Supervision & Interaction:

Position reports to the Director of Business Transformational Lean, globally supporting Business Units and functions; expected travel of 80%.  Work with Business Units to ensure full SFS education and implementation in all functional areas at the plant or facility level to ensure standardization, consistency and sustainability. Provide leadership and direction to the Site Staff.  Develops, manages and trains the SFS/Lean teams, where appropriate.

  

Position Responsibilities:

·         Works with Business Leadership Teams to define the current and future state Value Streams to plan and prioritize continuous improvement activities.

·         An SFS leader to support the identification and actions being taken to realize goals set for the Business Units.  Works with Site leadership to drive lean and six sigma improvements in manufacturing and transactional processes / technologies to reduce waste, variation and cost.  Implements the standardized system and methodology as outlined by corporate to be used throughout the facility; follows up on improvements to make sure that they are sustained, and for ensuring open newspaper items are closed.

·         Provides training in alignment to the lean deployment strategy to eliminate waste from transactional or manufacturing processes.

·         Ensures adherence to SFS standards for Stanley, Value Stream and team improvement boards, enabling a continuous improvement culture and progression of the lean journey.  Where appropriate, supports Site lean team members through required and special team meetings.  Provides high level technical and operational recommendations in meeting productivity, material control, product quality, and customer service goals.

·         Aligns activities through the Goal Deployment Process and manages and maintains key operating metrics and drivers for Stanley.  Communicates the status of all Lean efforts to the businesses and platform leadership. Provides documentation of results and benefits achieved to senior leaders through business reviews, Pro-Trak, and other SFS reporting.

·         Conducts Kaizen and other workouts in support of the business’ objectives.  Promotes / mentors a continuous learning environment.

·         Documents and shares "best demonstrated practice" methods, processes and ideas with all facilities to drive continuous improvements in all aspects for business transformation.  Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders (Business Leaders, Plant Managers, Function Managers, etc.) for communication of SFS goals, processes and achievements.

·         Uses lean principles to assist in the design and execution of new transactional and manufacturing processes, methodologies and layouts to improve overall productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Four years of successful manufacturing experience with at least two years of direct Lean leadership.
  • Bachelors degree.  Preferable in an Engineering discipline. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S, Visual Factory Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC / SQC, OEE, Six Sigma, Communication Tools, Statistical Problem Solving and QS9000.
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills with an outstanding ability to influence others.
  • Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean/Flow through-put world.
  • Experience leading, training, mentoring and coaching lean process improvement teams at the local level.
  • Demonstrated Kaizen experience with transactional as well as manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with formal training activities in an organization implementing lean process methodologies and tools.
  • Effective presentation skills in order to share the success and ideas of the facility.
  • Must be a results-oriented, high energy self-starter, with good reporting skills
  • Solid computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and manufacturing software in general.
