Job Description

Nurse Practitioner - Part-time

 

We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join us at the Hudson County Correctional Center in Kearny, NJ.

Evening shift available.

Position will work under limited supervision with general oversight by a physician while providing medical care and treatment to the inmate population of patients in defined areas to assess illness, treatment education, prevention and wellness concepts. In addition, position swill work with many different individuals including patients, physicians, security guards, and other correctional employees.

Correctional medicine is comprised primarily of internal medicine patients with a public service/community health service flavor. Care competencies include: asthma, hypertension, seizures, diabetes and infectious disease: including TB and HIV. Enjoy easy follow up and continuity of care with 24/7 nursing coverage.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current license to practice as a NP in the state of New Jersey

  • CPR certification

  • Correctional health care or managed care medial experience a plus

  • All candidates must be able to pass a background screening
