The Municipal Employees' Retirement System (MERS) is a statewide retirement plan and tax-qualified trust that municipalities may adopt for their employees. MERS offers employee benefit programs: defined benefit, defined contribution and hybrid plans, and group insurance products. MERS serves cities, counties, hospitals, libraries, medical care facilities, road commissions, townships, villages, and similar units of local government.
MERS operated under state government from 1945 until 1996, when MERS became an independent non-profit public corporation. MERS members total approximately 700* municipalities and more than 75,000* individual members and retirees. *(as of December 31, 2007)
SUMMARY
The Senior Marketing Analyst works with the Marketing team to assist and coordinate in the development of new products and services. This coordination includes looking at other competitors, analyzing trends, and campaign management. This position must have strong organizational skills and be able to focus on how new product and service ideas translate to satisfying MERS’ customer needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Work closely with entire Marketing area in determining the feasibility of new products or services in accordance with MERS vision, mission, values and services standards. Responsible for analysis, review, implementation and periodic upgrades of products and services supported by OMES.
· Stay apprised of changes in federal/state benefit laws and regulations as well as benefit trends. Assist with impact analysis on existing programs and coordinate changes to ensure client satisfaction and legal compliance.
· Stay apprised of competitors by performing regular competitive analysis.
· Assist in the development of communications and marketing materials such as brochures, presentations, newsletters, and press releases.
· Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns, especially in research, to identify leads, load them into the database, and maintain communication.
· Assist the management team in benchmarking best practices and implementing structure and procedures to manage risk and ensure delivery of service standards for MERS.
· Research the feasibility, system requirements and staffing required to offer new products and services.
· Develop recommendations based upon feasibility.
· Coordinate the implementation of new products and services.
· Reporting on status of new products and services along with status of product and service upgrades.
· Work with managers to plan and document the establishment of daily processing procedures associated with new products and services.
· Foster strong working relationships with internal and external teams to facilitate successful delivery of programs and initiatives.
· Participate in meetings, conferences, and training seminars as required.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related degree
· 4-5 years of proven experience related to this position
· Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and implement new products and services
