App Development Sr Specialist

OVERVIEW
This individual will serve as a senior technician in the frontline production application support team within the Clinical IT Technical Services Organization. This will be accomplished through working with technologists whose performance objectives are to provide best in class break/fix and light enhancements support for Clinical IT application suites. This individual will also be responsible for developing key metric reporting and completing project activities in order to provide continuous improvement in the efficiency and trouble shooting skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to service tickets and service requests within established time-based
    requirements.
  • Supports applications supported by Clinical IT to ensure optimal reliability.
  • Coordinates with internal and external CIGNA resources as necessary to isolate and
    troubleshoot issues that result in service disruption or outage.
  • Notifies customer and management of the status of disruption and estimated time of
    completion if known.
  • Maintains internal reporting metrics to track outages and assist with future problem
    resolution.
  • Works with Clinical IT Asset Teams to determine root cause and to implement permanent fix
    as soon as feasible.
  • After hours support may be required depending on when disruption occurs and impact of the
    disruption.
  • Work with application programmers, architects and business analysts to understand
    technical and business needs.
  • Eliminate manually intensive activities through improved processes and technologies.
  • Work across multiple projects, allocate time appropriately and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations to obtain
    efficiencies and cost
    effective solutions.
  • Demonstrate diverse set of technical and application maintenance skills to ensure
    maximum stability and support of existing and new Clinical IT Applications.
  • Work with Clinical IT organization and business partners to ensure application availability to
    support evolving business needs.
  • Build and manage relationships with IT Operations partners, as well as business partners to
    optimize application performance and results.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with peers and management within Clinical IT as well as
    business partners as appropriate regarding application and environment support changes
    impacting external areas.
  • Ensure applications stay current with all compliance requirements..

    Requirements

    - At least 5 years or more of solid work experience in IT.

  • Knowledge of SAS in the open systems required (desktop/server environments) a plus.
  • Technical background in Oracle, SQL, UNIX Scripts, PL/SQL, C++.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Experience with TWS and CA7 distributed and mainframe batch scheduling tools.
  • Desired experience with Mainframe Platform, Mid-Range Platform, Windows Desktop
    Platform, Windows Server Platform, UNIX Client/Server Platform, Internet/Intranet (Web)
    Platform, E-Commerce/EDI.
  • Strong analytical, creative problem solving and project management skills.
  • Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills to facilitate the coordination and
    completion of multiple and varied projects.
  • Knowledge of the type of clinical programs currently offered by CIGNA would be helpful (but
    not necessary)..
