Kelly IT Resources is currently assisting one of our clients in their search for a Senior Programmer Analyst who will assist in the development of system design and enhancements. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in COBOL development and have experience working with TANDEM utility programs. This position is a long term contract with the potential of being extended based upon the progress of the assigned project.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Use technical skills and programming experience to define and program solutions to problems and requests of varying difficulty under the general direction of the Manager.
Assist in the development, testing, and documentation of systems design and enhancements.
Makes modifications and changes to existing programs and procedures as required to satisfy requests.
Reports progress by updates to project control system status and time recording.
Notifies project leader and/or manager immediately when it appears schedule dates will not be met, or if assigned project will lead to operational or support difficulties.
Advises less experienced programmers and provides training by sharing technical knowledge with others.
Assists with balancing problems as requested.

REQUIRED/DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science highly desired. 5+ years of COBOL programming experience is required. A high level of technical proficiency in working with TANDEM utility programs required. Ability to modify and create SCOBOL on-line programs required. Ability to develop complex on-line and batch programs highly desired.
