Primary Characteristics: To review all loan submissions to ensure that they meet the investor guidelines. To weigh credit risk to ensure that the liability taken on by the company will result in a saleable loan. To provide superior customer service.
Essential Functions: * Review all loan submissions and follow-up conditions provided by borrower/broker * Ensure that Corporate operating standards are met for underwriting and compliance * Ensure that customer service commitments are met
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): * Must have a full working knowledge of agency underwriting and selling guidelines * Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Must have the ability to review documents within corporate time-frame a low error rate * Must be well organized and have the ability to multi-task * Must be able to assess risk * Must have the ability to determine if submitted conditions are acceptable, and offer alternative suggestions as needed * Must have the ability to review more complex loans (jumbos, self-employed borrowers) * Must have the ability to mentor those with less underwriting experience
Training and Experience: * Must have a minimum of 5 years in the mortgage industry * Must have a complete working knowledge of agency automated underwriting systems * Must have the ability to traditionally underwrite a file JobRequirements
