NATURE OF POSITION

  

The position of Clinical Education Specialist (216682070411) reports to the Director of the Education Department.  The mission of the Education & Training department is to promote Excellence through continuing education and clinical support of nursing staff.  The Clinical Education Specialist supports that mission by promoting and standardizing evidence-based nursing practice throughout the patient care areas.  Performs the essential functions of mission integration, teamwork, time management, communication/ interpersonal relationships, organizational contribution, professional manner and appearance, age specific care for child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, expert clinical practice, professional practice and education nurse planner in accordance with the characteristics outlined under each competency.

  

 

Job Requirements

  

Education:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Master's degree in Nursing. 

Work Experience:

Three years recent staff nurse experience in critical care or experience as a critical care educator or clinical nurse specialist.

Licensing/Certification/Registration:

Current RN license by Kansas State Board of Nursing.  Current Health Care Provider (BLS) affirmation by the American Heart Association. ACLS Provider Certification

Knowledge & Cognitive Abilities:

Must possess the ability to use critical thinking skills to identify problems and opportunities. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Has the cognitive ability to problem solve and resolve conflicts with sound reasoning and good judgment.  Effectively prioritizes workload to meet deadlines.  Must demonstrate competency and have the ability to administer medication to include controlled substances via all routes. 

 

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  

Specialty certification in area of practice . Proficient computer skills, ACLS Instructor, experience teaching in a classroom setting.  Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred.
