Process Engineer

Description Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, modification, and operation of process equipment in a zero liquid discharge water treatment plant, which supplies water to an attached ethanol plant by performing the following duties personally or by coordinating the activities of operations, and maintenance and contract personnel. Water treatment plant consists of the following unit operations: cold lime softening, multimedia filtration, reverse osmosis, caustic softening, microfiltration, and crystallization. Support the operation of the water treatment plant and ethanol plant by reviewing, studying, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting the plant systems and equipment and by recommending modifications or new equipment to improve operations.
Plans and implements capital projects relating to process improvements and plant expansions. Coordinates project documentation including P&ID updates, operating procedures, training, equipment files, project files, all drawings. Develops plant specifications for equipment, piping, electrical, instrumentation, etc.

Requirements Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in engineering required. Chemical or bio systems degree preferred. Candidates with a degree in mechanical engineering may be considered. Two years related engineering experience required. Experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment and process design preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Possess a thorough understanding of fundamental theories of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, separations, control systems, and water chemistry.
