Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
The Application Administrator is responsible for providing second level support for diagnosing and debugging application issues. Strong knowledge of infrastructure environments as well as various application technologies enables the Application Administrator to troubleshoot complex application issues working closely with application development and production support teams. The support covers multiple lines of business and a wide range of software and hardware platforms.


Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Act as an escalation point for unresolved Level 1 application issues.
  • Work closely with the application support teams and other operations support areas to resolve escalated issues.
  • Update run book documentation and known error database on a continual basis to ensure run books are current and enable L1 resolution.
  • Communication with technology and business partners
  • Translating Application support issues into service impact assessments
  • Work with Incident Management on the resolution of Application specific items with service impact and direct Incident Management to engage vendors where necessary.
  • Work with the Application Development Group, Infrastructure Support, and Change Management on resolution of escalated issues that require Application modifications.
  • Participate in Change, Incident, Event and Problem Management processes as needed.
  • Provides and supports a viable BCP strategy, including participation in regular contingency testing.
  • Assist with automated solutions
  • Knowledge and theory of principles for project management
  • Responsible for supporting multiple project lifecycles
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend monitoring points
  • Identify and audit against specific policy/standard/process deficiencies within the global organization and develop and drive cross-functional correction strategies in conjunction with L1
  • Reporting, analysis and recommendation of updates within the product lifecycle
  • Evaluate application releases in conjunction with release management and ensure defined requirements have been met.
  • Analyze failed releases and determine permanent solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree plus a minimum 2-4 years of professional experience
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of IT Administrator experience supporting Production, Development & QA systems within an enterprise environment
  • Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, organizational and time management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Redhat Linux) and related technologies - DNS, NFS, AD, TCP/IP, VMWare and blade technology
