Job Description

the journeybegins withyou.                                                                                            There's quite a distance between wondering and knowing. And for patients waiting for answers to important health questions, it's a road they want to travel as quickly as possible. At Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, we understand urgency. But more than speed, we focus our energies on accuracy. Currently we are seeking an Administrative Assistant.

Basic Purpose:Intermediate level clerical position reporting to a department manager or director.  Performs moderately complex projects under direct supervision.  This assignment is for Level I or II supervisor's responsibility. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Level I Responsibilities include:1. Carries out recurring procedures independently2. Responds to routine requests with standard answers3. Maintains supervisor's calendar, appointments, meetings4. Maintains internal department reports (budget, training, etc)5. Responsible for supplies, maintenance coordination, office files, etc

Level II Responsibilities include:1. Handles variety of situations independently without supervisor review2. Screens calls, visitors, incoming correspondence3. Personally responds to procedural requests4. Determines what requests need to be handled by supervisor or team member5. May provide support to a small department6. Arranges meetings/conferences and assembles materials7. Can perform all the responsibilities of Level 1

EducationHigh School Diploma required

Work Experience2-3 years of related office support experience requiredLaboratory Department Administrators must have 1 to 2 previous years of lab or medical experience

Special RequirementsRequires typing speed of 60 wpm and familiarity with basic office machines, such as computer, fax machine and copy machine; For assignments within a laboratory, incumbent must pass client services-related programs; Typing speed of laboratory Department Administrator must be at least 25 wpm. (Transfers to any non-laboratory position requires a typing speed minimum of 60 wpm).

*Knowledge of Medical Terminolgy preferred.

*Previous experience in a laboratory setting

**Ability to communicate effectively with Medical Practitioners
