Transportation Manager
Manage the timely and accurate delivery and backhaul activities of the Distribution Center including driver management, equipment utilization, and fleet maintenance. Control inventory and product loss during transportation. Oversee record keeping and compliance in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations. Directs all transportation activities including reviewing of routes, developing bid packages, scheduling driver/representatives. Responsible for the overall safety program for the Transportation Department. Recruits and selects new Driver Representatives and other transportation department candidates. Establish training activities for new Driver Representatives and other transportation personnel. Investigates accidents and notifies DC Manager of loss of product, equipment, and cost of damages to the Company.
- Degree in Business Administration/Logistics/Material Management or equivalent experience.
- 3 - 5 years of transportation management experience in the food distribution industry.
- Proven track record in all phrases of transportation.
- Excellent communication skills and sound decision-making abilities.
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- Excellent planning and organizing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Software Package (Outlook/Word/Excel).
- AS400 experience preferred.
- Truck routing software experience preferred.
