For more than 50 years, YAI Network has provided a place of hope and opportunity for people with developmental and learning disabilities and their families. Comprising seven not-for-profit, independent health and human service agencies, YAI Network serves people of all ages throughout the New York metropolitan area, including Long Island, New Jersey and Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess and Ulster counties, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. One of the most comprehensive organizations of its kind, YAI Network’s more than 5,600 staff members serve 20,000 people in more than 450 community-based programs. YAI Network is recognized nationally for its conferences, training seminars and publications.
Since its founding in 1979, the New York League for Early Learning (NYL) has provided services and programs for children from birth to age five and their families. To strengthen its work for children with developmental disabilities and learning delays, NYL became a member of the YAI Network in 1992. Today, NYL's highly acclaimed, progressive education and cutting-edge therapies build brighter futures for thousands of children. NYL has been recognized for its excellence by the New York State Department of Education.
Serving nearly 2000 children daily, NYL's staff of more than 1000 highly trained professionals create safe, supportive learning environments in early intervention and preschool settings. NYL's full range of outstanding, culturally appropriate offerings are presented in many languages and are available at various sites: in the home, at community-based centers and at schools throughout the boroughs.
