Company: Mimio, a Business Unit of Newell Rubbermaid, designs, develops and produces consumer products aimed at classrooms. Our primary product is based on patented technology that converts any flat surface into a large interactive digital input device. This technology is integrated into many different OEM products, including interactive whiteboards, whiteboard capture devices, copy boards, rear projection systems, plasma displays, pen input devices and interactive tables. The company ships its own Interactive Whiteboard (iWB) products based on this technology under the mimio™ brand and has over 150,000 installations of its products worldwide. Job Responsibilities: - Work with Subject Matter Experts to develop and modify project plans
- Lead regular update meetings with key stakeholders, alerting team if projects strays out of originally set parameters
- Manage and be accountable for new product development through a Stage-Gate development process
- Track monthly business project performance
- Work with business and shared service leaders to monitor and evaluate project progress, and to help remediate and resolve issues
- Be the communications hub between R&D, Marketing and Finance
- Collaborate with outside service providers - could include overseas contract manufacturers, vendors and outside services (including product compliance testing agencies, localization firms, quality assurance firms)
Qualifications:
- B.S. in engineering or technology related field
- 5-7 years experience in project management in new product development. Consumer product industry experience preferred.
- Basic to expert understanding of one or all product development disciplines: electrical engineering design, injection molded plastics design, software application development (Windows minimum; Mac & Linux desirable)
- Excellent time management skills
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized
- Self-motivated, quick and assertive
- Proficient with Project Management software, preferably MS Project
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
- Persuasive, effective speaking and presentation skills. Ability to motivate and influence others and to communicate effectively at all levels in an organization as well as across cultures and geographies.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience transferring new product designs to overseas contract manufacturer
- Experience managing localization of software applications and user documentation into multiple languages
- Interaction with 3rd party quality assurance testing
- Knowledge of product compliance (safety and EMC) testing process
- Working knowledge of PLM systems, preferably Agile
