Job Description
Description of Essential Job Functions:
- Build and test a complete object model representing all aspects of Con-way Freight's business in a virtual reporting and data discovery model.
- Discuss business reporting requirements with business stakeholders.
- Document requirements, and assemble objects to generate reports, charts, scorecards, dashboards, maps, and forecasts for business use.
- Test data against existing reports, and develop "reasonableness" sense.
- Adhere to object naming and reuse standards.
- Review tool generated SQL, and collaborate with Data Warehouse team on relational online analytical process (ROLAP) design and performance.
- Contribute to maintenance of metadata and report library.
- Support business users in ad hoc reporting questions
- Track issues with reports, including defects in object logic, schema logic, data quality problems, and process errors.
- Understand complete reporting lifecycle, to diagnose problems.
- Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, Masters degree a plus.
- Working knowledge or strong interest in Object Oriented design.
- Working knowledge or strong interest in Relational Databases.
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Methodical, organized approach to work.
- Curious, creative approach to challenges
- Experience in MicroStrategy development.
- Experience in Oracle RDBMS development.
- Experience in GIS systems, or spatial thinking.
- Knowledge of transportation industry a plus.
- Knowledge of complex systems a plus
