Project Accounting Clerk opportunity in Fulton, AR. The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets. We are currently seeking the following Project Accounting Clerk located at our Fulton, AR coal power plant site.AEP Turk
PROJECT
The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SGR) has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), to build a new 600 MW electric generating plant in Hempstead County, Arkansas. SWEPCO is seeking the necessary regulatory approvals to build the plant from various Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana authorities. The John W. Turk, Jr. - Unit 1 facility will use an ultra-supercritical advanced pulverized clean coal combustion technology. By increasing steam pressure and temperatures, the facility will require less fuel per megawatt hour, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced emissions. The new plant is scheduled to be completed in mid-2011 at a total cost of approximately $1.3 billion. Shaw's EPC contract is valued at approximately $700 million.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIESProject Accounting Clerk will input data from time sheets, production records, or individual time cards to computerized payroll system. Responsible for balancing payroll runs, producing federal, state and local tax payments, and answering employee questions and troubleshooting issues. Works under general supervision. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSFour years of accounting experience required. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. JDE experience preferred. Requires developed understanding of basic accounting principles as well as business documents and internal controls. Requires the ability to maintain control over a multitude of project financial documents. Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize tasks is essential. Requires superior organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Office Environment.Candidate must meet the criteria for access to the company's, partners', and clients' technologies. PREFERRED SKILLSEfficient in specific computer skills such as JDE applications. GENERAL INFORMATIONPosition is full-time, non-exempt and is located in Shaw Power's industrial site in Fulton, AR. Overtime may be required to meet project demands.
