This position plans, develops and manages fraud risk policy, strategy and operational fraud risk execution in support of North American business objectives. Acts on behalf of higher management as required. Oversee the development and implementation of fraud prevention, detection and investigation strategy and incorporate proactive fraud strategies across all businesses. Direct the compilation of intelligence from open, commercial and law enforcement sources on fraud risks to HSBC North America operations and disseminate as appropriate. Implement Group Fraud Risk strategy and policy at the regional level; maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points, coupled with any issues raised by external regulators. Position scope includes an FTE 501 onshore and 432 offshore. Incumbent will be managing a budget of $70M total expenses. Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices. Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Manage strategic, tactical and operational responses to fraud risk throughout North America for all customer groups, products and channels. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. Direct the collection, recording and analysis of internal and external fraud-related information across all business lines. Manage and direct the interpretation of data and subsequent development of proactive prevention and detection policies and strategies to mitigate security and fraud threats, regulatory risk, financial loss and reputational damage. Ensure continual assessment of fraud risks inherent in the business, taking into account changing management restructurings, the fraud risk environment and technology impact. Manage the reduction of financial loss and reputational damage from serious financial crimes and/or code of ethics violations. Ensure employees apply compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Emphasize and model human resources and other HSBC policies to create an ethical, safe and supportive work environment.
