job description

The Transportation Truckload Broker is a sales position responsible to drive revenue growth of brokerage by effectively responding to the needs of existing and potential NFI customers in conjunction with the effective sourcing and management of NFI's carriers.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 


Effectively Manage Customer Relationships by: 


  • Generating of business leads 

  • Skilled Negotiation of Rates & Services

  • Proper positioning of brokerage services 

  • Ensuring proper follow up and management of all loads 

  • Breaking through internal & external obstacles that limit growth/service 

  • A sales/growth orientated mindset 

Effectively Manage Carrier Relationships by: 


  • Using available industry tools and relationship to identify potential carriers 

  • Verification of carrier safety and other qualifications as per company policy 

  • Skilled Negotiation of Rates & Services 

  • Clear communication of service expectations 

  • Consistently following up to ensure loads move as expected by our customers 

  • Immediate follow up and management of any exception 

  • Accurate and timely entry into operating system of load status, costs, and freight audit/pay information. 

Foster growth in brokerage business through collaboration with all NFI Departments and willingness to do “Whatever it takes” to ensure our customers? needs are met?


Complete any other tasks or duties as assigned



job Requirements

Job Related & Physical Requirements: 


  • Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as required by the customer needs.

Minimum Experience, Education, and Training Required: 


  • BA or BS Degree preferred 

  • 2-5 years Brokerage experience preferred 

  • Familiarity with DOT trucking regulations (Hours of Service, Claims etc) 

  • Proficient in using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel) 

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment that involves learning and using multiple applications and handling a high volume of phone calls

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Market knowledge of truckload lanes and rates 

  • Individual commitment towards sharpening existing or acquiring new skills as required by demands of the business or customers
