POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position of Staff Nurse PRN I (216610254811) reports to the Director of the Family Care Center at Providence Medical Center.  The mission of the Family Care Center is to exceed the patient's expectations in a safe, non-judgmental and professional way when caring for the ante partum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, gynecological, and pediatric patient populations.  The position supports this mission by performing the essential functions of our Culture of Loving Care Behavioral competencies, age specific awareness, documentation of care, clinical competency, family centered care - unit vision, unit responsibility/professionalism, and use of the nursing process in accordance with the characteristics outlined under each competency.

 

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing.

Work Experience:

One year within past 18 mos.

Licensing/Certification/Registration:

Current RN license by Kansas State Board of Nursing.  Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider certification; status falls within recommended renewal date.  Neonatal Resuscitation Provider affirmation by American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.   

Knowledge & Cognitive Abilities:

Must possess the ability to use critical thinking skills to identify problems and opportunities. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, positively represent the department to internal and external customers.  Must possess a level of analytical skills to identify patient needs and solve problems.  Effectively prioritizes workload to meet deadlines.  Basic computer skills.  Must demonstrate competency and have the ability to administer medications to include controlled substances via all routes.
