Spring 2010 Finance Intern

Description The Emmy Award winning WPIX-TV in New York City, a Tribune Broadcasting television station,and the flagship station of The CW Television Network, seeks an Intern in the Finance Department. This internship will provide an opportunity to experience the fundamentals of finance, how it relates to other departments at a television station, and ultimately, how it relates to the financial bottom line. In addition, this internship is designed to marry course of study to hands-on-experience. The intern will have the opportunity to shadow professionals. The learning objectives and responsibilities are as follows:
Learn the financial basics of the broadcast business
Broadcast rights/programming/licensing
Cash vs. barter
Projections vs. plan vs. actuals
FTE, personnel

Requirements Qualified students must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, undergraduate or graduate program, have completed their sophomore year and in good academic standing. The qualified intern must be enrolled in a parallel major in the field of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, etc., as the internship is designed to provide hands-on experience as it relates to major course of study. The successful candidate will have applicable internship and/or volunteer experience. With proper documentation, the internship can be for credit, but is not necessary; a stipend will also be paid.
