Job Description 

This position plays a key role in implementing and developing the decision support system by providing ongoing support throughout CHI hospitals and working with managers or senior leadership on issues relating to cost accounting, financial and clinical analysis, and contract management.  This person ensures the integrity of the database through regular maintenance.  The position will also promote the use of decision support tools and provide assistance to hospital management, enhancing their understanding and use of decision support information.

1.  Understand and analyze hospital department operations to develop and maintain cost accounting structures.

2.  Process, audit, and analyze data from various transactional systems including health information management,  
     payroll, patient accounting, and general ledger applications to create an integrated decision support database.

3.  Develop expert understanding and knowledge of decision support information and its various applications 
     including flexible budgets, reimbursement contract models, and productivity measures.

4.  Train and mentor on-site client hospital personnel in the functionality, navigation, execution, and reporting of the
     decision support system with the goal that key hospital employees will gain a comprehensive understanding of  
     the information available from the system.  Occasional public presentations to various audiences may be  
     required.

5.  Assist hospital managers and senior leadership in understanding and analyzing decision support information.

6.  Provide support and consultation to client hospitals in the development of their operations budget and modeling
     of payor contracts.

7.  Develop reports to support the measurement and analysis for hospital operations such as measurement of
     financial performance, reimbursement, productivity, and clinical improvement.

8.  Maintain a clear line of communication with assigned client hospitals and provide excellent customer service as
     outlined by the service center manager.

 


Job Requirements 

a. Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):Bachelor's degree in a business or related field. b. Experience (required and preferred):Three years experience as a financial or clinical analyst - prefer experience in a healthcare environment. Prefer hands-on experience with report writing, database construction and maintenance, spreadsheet analysis, and transactional systems.
