The Registered Sales Assistant’s (RSA) primary function is to provide the support required to Financial Advisors (FA) so they can leverage their time and productivity with a resulting increase in sales. This role will primarily focus on sales and marketing responsibilities but may include operational responsibilities. The successful candidate is expected to recognize potential referral opportunities to other areas of the bank in furtherance of our strategic intent to be the primary financial services provider to all of our customers. Responsibilities Include:
Compliance duties: monitoring office activities in accordance with regulatory guidelines and requirements; assuring that signage is properly displayed in office(s); reviewing trade tickets and balancing them to the broker’s trade blotter; assisting in monitoring commission reports and tracking missing items; serving as a document specialist; monitoring new account data for accuracy and completeness; following-up on missing documentation; assisting FA when subject of a compliance audit; assuring that securities and checks are properly safe-guarded pending forwarding to OSJ or to UVEST; and updating changes to clients files.
Administrative duties: answering the phones; knowing where the Financial Advisors are at all times and how to reach them; maintaining a supply of forms; establishing and maintaining orderly files in compliance with regulatory requirements; assisting with new account set-up; conducting research on customer inquiries through UVEST and mutual fund or annuity vendors; maintaining broker calendars; typing correspondence; submitting expense reports; and ordering office supplies
Sales duties: obtaining prospect lists and making sales calls to set up appointments for Financial Advisors; handling all inquiries about sales and products; handling and executing trade requests from clients; preparing sales proposals; making sales calls on prospects; managing direct mail campaigns; coordinating seminars; assisting with training bank employees; maintaining up-to-date mutual fund supplies; contacting mutual fund/annuity wholesalers and inside assistants; setting up periodic reviews with customers; assuring that all referrals are promptly acknowledged, given to the FA and forwarded for payment/credit when appropriate; assisting in the recognition of referral prospects for other bank products and making such referrals. Preferred Qualifications:
Possess an NASD Series 7 license and their SC Insurance License or ability to obtain these licenses within one year of employment. (Licenses are required in order to qualify for the position's Sales Incentive compensation program.)
A college education or the equivalent in college training and work experience
Solid experience in brokerage sales and/or other retail banking sales positions
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Understanding of the retail and commercial bank product lines
Ability to handle multi-task, prioritize and work independently in a manner which maximizes sales and goal attainment
Strong attention to detail
Ability to effectively work with different types of customer and coworker personalities
Office management experience
Excellent keyboarding and PC skills Additionally, candidates must be able to successfully pass credit check, criminal background check, drug screening, and reference check.
