Our beautiful, state of the art Suitland Federal Child Development Center located on Silver Hill Road in Suitland, Maryland is looking for an Assistant Director. This center has a capacity of 69 children Infant through Pre-School and is an employee sponsored center by the Census Bureau, Office of Navy Intelligence and NOAA.
The center is located near the Metro and offers on-site free parking.
As the Assistant Director, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with, assist and support the Director with center leadership including: overall management of the center, development of quality programs in accordance with guidelines established by Bright Horizons and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and development of positive relationships with parents, children, families and clients. You will have numerous professional growth opportunities as Assistant Directors are trained in all areas of Director responsibility and assume these responsibilities in Directors absence. By providing leadership, training and guidance, you will ensure the teaching team provides a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times by meeting the physical demands of the position. Must have an AA, BA or MA in ECE or related field with a minimum of four college-level early childhood courses and A minimum of 4-5 years of documented professional teaching experience with young children required. Proven strength also required in written and oral communication, supervisory, leadership and organizational skills. Strong knowledge of and ability to lead faculty in implementing DAP (developmentally appropriate practices) curriculum and NAEYC accreditation standards. Individual state and center requirements may apply.
