Job Description

Kelly Engineering resources is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic 'Journeyman Level' to work a temp to perm position in Augusta, GA.
Requirements: 3-5 years industrial mechanic experience. Inspection and repair experience of rotating equipment, primarily motors, pumps, and gearboxes. Must be familiar with use of precision measurement instruments, including micrometers. Ability to disassemble, inspect, and perform necessary repairs while communicating with other departments. You must be equipped with your own hand tools. Routine overtime can be expected.
Qualifications: Journeyman level mechanic with knowledge in the following areas - Working knowledge of AC electric motors, typically large three phase in excess of 1000 HP. Position requires extensive inspection and teardown experience. Candidate must understand physical inspection and bearing replacement, as well as shaft and other mechanical inspection. Should also be able to operate meggar, ohm meter, and test run equipment. - Familiar with pump assemblies, diagnosis and repair, of positive and centrifugal and split case styles. Ability of disassembly, inspection practices of working components, and documentation of findings, for estimating repair costs of components and time. Then perform assembly, installation of rotors, mechanical seals, bearings, impellors and run checks to complete tasks. - Gearbox experience and working knowledge of gear assemblies' installation, seal replacement, drive inspections and gearbox identification.
Other requirements: - Knowledge of multi-voltage requirements for motor applications - Good mechanical inspection experience ie.. Keyways, bearing fits, shaft diameter measurements, shaft run out inspections and alignment experience. - Must be familiar with using precision measuring tools, Micrometers, inside and outside, including, depth micrometers and dial indicators. - Must perform operations utilizing hydraulic presses, gear pullers, hydraulic pullers, hand tools and overhead hoist operations to 15 ton. - Bearing identification, with knowledge of installation procedures for different types and applications.
Plus would be: - Dynamic balancing , Machine shop skills, motor rewind experience, field service type work - You are provided your own organized workspace and significant tools for the task. Must possess your own hand tools.
