Assume responsibility as Department Manager for the Materials
Management/Logistics/Distribution area for an acute care hospital.
Under the primary supervision of the System’s Logistical Director and general direction of the local hospital CFO and VP of Supply Chain Enterprise Accounts, assists with daily supply operations within the departments and hospital; trains materials management staff; monitors and oversees daily storage, and receiving operations; maintains inventory of stored items; coordinates with departments on supply needs, ensures the delivery of items to and from storage; provides recommendations for enhancements and modifications to existing and new programs.
Responsible for the distribution, receiving, and inventory control of the hospital’s medical, surgical, and non-medical supplies necessary to support patient care operations.
Responsible for management of Liaison employee in supervisory roles and customer’s departmental staff that perform supply chain management duties.
Developing, implementing, and administering a coordinated supply support system that operates efficiently and meets the needs of the hospital’s departments. Specifically, this calls for:
Developing policy and procedures in stock purchasing, inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution, material processing, and returns.
Identifying current practices, policies and procedures in the management and delivery of supplies and implementing best practices.
Develops and maintains an inventory control system for items stored in the hospital and departmental par locations; records items stored into MMIS database; coordinates with departments, the delivery of items to and from storage; reviews inventory reports and contacts departments to aid in purging of expired items; inspects warehouse to ensure proper storage techniques and verification of items
Developing a customer service orientation for the department and maintaining good working relationships with all departments by providing service, management assistance, problem resolution and open communications.
Development and promotion of a collaborative culture between Materials Management personnel, Nursing, Ancillary and Medical Staff
