Description
As a Bakery Team Leader (Department Manager) you will lead a team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality-driven leadership style. The Bakery Team Leader reports to the Store Team Leader (Store Manager) and is guided by the Regional Bakery Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Store Leadership you will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development & training, disciplinary actions, separations, and holding your team accountable for their work.
- Responsible for profitability, expense control (packaging and labor), inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned.
- Lead your team by training and mentoring.
- Complete accountability for all aspects of team operations and able to perform all duties and responsibilities of team positions.
- You will be encouraged to run the Bakery as if it was your own business (within certain Whole Foods guidelines).
- Ensure that all National, Regional, and Store policies & procedures (specific to the team) are being followed and executed properly.
- To lead your team with the committment to leadership and with enthusiasm expected of someone interested in future store, regional, or national leadership position.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated two or more years of experience directing a team of five or more people.
- Instruct and train new and existing Bakery Team Members.
- Strong knowledge of general Bakery procedures and baking practices.
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader or equivalent.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
- Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds unassisted.
- Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds unassisted.
- Effectively communicate with other Team Members and Leadership.
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant Whole Foods Market policies and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer experience including Word, Excel, and systems applications.
- Must work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays.
