Evening Shift Nursing Supervisor

Description Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital is a 120-bed hospital in Wheaton, Illinois, that is dedicated to the delivery of rehabilitative medicine. Founded in 1972 by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, the hospital is part of Marianjoy, Inc., a network of care that manages more than 400 beds within the greater Chicago area. Throughout the network, Marianjoy provides inpatient, comprehensive outpatient and subacute rehabilitation services. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for nursing activities and associated patient care issues. You will be responsible for adequate staffing of nursing personnel, providing education for quality patient care and to elevate the knowledge level of nursing in delivering care. The Nursing Supervisor will provide education and support to the unit charge nurses.

The Nursing Supervisor represents nursing administration as the lead person in the event of any hospital emergency situation.

Specific Responsibilities:
As the Nursing Supervisor, you will monitor nursing staffing to assure resources are available to provide quality patient care, provide direct supervision of nursing staff including evaluations, plan and implement professional growth activities for staff, and assures staff compliance with mandatory education and training requirements.

This position is for the full time night shift nursing supervisor. Alternating weekends and holidays.

Requirements Education:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of IL is required. A BSN and CRRN is preferred. ACLS and PALS preferred.

Experience:
Five years experience in nursing is required. Two years experience in supervisory role or relevant experience is required.

Knowledge:
Current understanding of the complexities of nursing care and the relationships involved. Understanding of hospital policies, JCAHO, IDPH and OSHA standards. Organizational skills and the ability to use common sense to address patient and family concerns and issues.

Interpersonal:
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead staff, while supporting the organization's mission, through observable interactions. Ability to communicate with large base of staff, patients, physicians and other customers, in sometime difficult or stressful circumstances.
