Located in Rolling Meadows, IL ISACA is a global IT professional Association serving over 70,000 members. ISACA is growing and currently is looking to fill the newly created position of Director of Training and Education.
Scope of Position:
Lead the development and delivery of high quality, creative and innovative training and educational events, programs and services that meet the current and future needs of ISACA members and certified professionals (constituents). Utilize innovative delivery (e.g. web-based training) and dissemination methods to maximize the frequency and quality of training and education opportunities and to promote ISACA intellectual property.
Specifically responsible for ISACA training and education activities, including:
• development and execution a holistic training and education strategy that meets the needs of ISACA constituents throughout their career cycle.
• development and implementation of strategic initiatives, training, and education programs and events that meet constituent needs.
• identification and deployment of innovate training, education and dissemination approaches and methods to maximize constituent opportunities to build knowledge and skills.
• development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives
• creation and execution of an annual business plan and budget
• identification of strategic partnerships and collaborations
• management of direct reports
Mission-Critical Areas of Accountability:
1. Communication:
• Strong awareness of and commitment to the importance of quality services to constituents and an understanding of the role of a professional association.
• Capacity for building effective working relationships with a wide and diverse range of volunteers, consultants and organizations and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capacity and preparedness to work productively in a flexible workgroup environment while developing and delivering multiple products and services within tight time frames.
2. Leadership—Interactions with Volunteer Leaders, Professional Associations, Vendors, etc.
• Interface with ISACA’s Chief Professional Development Officer on training and education development activities and convert ISASA Board directives into program related activities and initiatives.
• Interface with Education and Dissemination Committee and internal departments to identify industry educational needs and develop, execute, monitor and improve a wide range of training and education programs and products while utilizing multiple delivery methods to effectively meet constituent and industry needs; and schedule, execute, oversee/monitor and improve training and education deliverables to meet constituent needs
• Interface with professional associations and education providers to develop and collaborate on new and unique educational products and services
• Interface with constituents and industry professionals to determine professional development needs and issues and provide efficient and cost-effective solutions
3. Project Management/Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of professional training and education good practices
• Demonstrated capacity to direct a team of professionals and numerous simultaneous projects with a strong awareness of program development, planning, marketing and finance and proven analytical and conceptual ability
4. Financial Controls and Contributions:
• Working with the Finance Department, develop financial budgets and targets that satisfy ISACA business and financial goals and objectives
• Working with the Marketing and Communications Departments, create and execute marketing and communication initiatives
• Prudently manage organizational resources within budgeted guidelines to ensure desired profitability levels
• Recommend and implement operational efficiencies to improve performance and productivity
5. External Focus:
• Highly motivated self-starter with entrepreneurial/business acumen
• Develop, nurture and maintain professional relationships with other Association and enterprise executives to create promote and support training and education initiatives
6. Other:
• Direct and recruit qualified managerial and administrative personnel to achieve goals and objectives
• Motivate staff and monitor progress to perform at a high level of achievement
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Be an “idea” person. Ability to think creatively and “out-of-the-box” and to find innovative solutions to problems.
• Ability to think strategically and transform knowledge into training and education products that lead to specific manageable activities consistent and complementary to ISACA business and financial goals and objectives
• Skilled in directing and mentoring staff and volunteers as well as external resources from diverse industry and backgrounds and leading and motivating all to accomplish organizational objectives
• Possess multiple levels of written and verbal skills to communicate on varied technical and non-technical matters
• Proven experience working in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to execute and/or manage numerous important projects simultaneously and prioritizing actions
• Possess strong group facilitation and dynamics skills
Education and/or Experience Required
This position requires both industry and professional development knowledge including:
• 5+ yrs. corporate experience in an executive/management position directing training and educational activities
• Proven experience in developing innovative solutions to meet training and education needs (classroom, presentation, and online)
• Strong organizational abilities
• Proven experience with strategic planning development and implementation
• Proficient computer skills
• A degree in computer sciences, instructional design, or a related field is mandatory, a masters degree is preferred
• Knowledge of information systems assurance, control, security and governance practices is preferred
• An advanced degree or certification is preferred
• Related professional business or association experience is desirable
